Natural disasters
Introduction
What do you think about natural disasters such as earthquakes, tornados, volcanos, and more? Did you know they kill on average 60 thousand people per year and are responsible for o.1% of global deaths. Well today I'm going to be talking about natural disasters like why they happen and about different types.
Paragraph 1
A natural disaster is a major event caused by natural processes of the earth; examples include floods, hurricanes, tornadoes, volcanic eruptions, earthquakes, tsunamis, and other geologic processes. A natural disaster causes loss of life or property damage, and leaves some economic damage after it has been completed. It is the damage to So as you can see there are lots of other natural disasters. And now you know why they happen. Have you ever been in a natural disaster? Thank you for listening to my speech.
humans and their property which counts most. Therefore one can say; disasters occur when hazards meet vulnerability. If a strong earthquake happens in uninhabited areas it is usually not seen as a disaster.
Tsunami
A tsunami, also know as a seismic sea wave or as a tidal wave, is a series of waves in a water body caused by the displacement of a large volume of water generally
In an ocean or large lake. Tsunamis can be caused by undersea earthquakes or by landslides, volcanic eruptions and more.
Earthquakes
An earthquake is the sudden movement of the Earth's crust. Earthquakes occur along fault lines, cracks in Earth's crust where tectonic plates meet. They happen when plates spread, slip, and collide. As the plates grind together, they get stuck and pressure builds up. Although the Earth looks like a pretty solid place from the surface, it’s actually extremely active just below the surface. The Earth is made of Four basic layers: a solid crust, a hot, nearly solid mantle, a liquid outer core and a solid inner core.
Volcanoes
A volcano is a mountain that opens downward to a pool of molten rock below the surface of the earth. ... In an eruption, gases and rock shoot up through the opening and spill over or fill the air with lava fragments. Eruptions can cause lava flows, hot ash flows, mudslides, avalanches, falling ash and floods.
Why natural disasters happen
For one, the movement of tectonic plates can cause many natural disasters, such as tsunamis, earthquakes, and volcanoes. Natural disasters are also caused by the weather. ... They can cause other traumatic events to happen as well, such as floods, landslides and mudslides.
